World Cup ref applauds player’s gesture of ‘classy’ respect

With the World Cup heading in the direction of its business end, referee Wayne Barnes took inventory of a current conflict between Scotland and Romania by which the Six Nations aspect claimed a powerful 84-0 win.

In one standout second, Romanian flanker Florian Rosu was despatched to the sin bin within the thirtieth minute after a Scotland maul, after which proceeded to shake arms with Barnes on his approach off the pitch as he humbly accepted the choice.

Speaking on X (previously Twitter), English referee Barnes mentioned: “Just reviewing the Romania v Scotland game. It’s not often you get your hand shaken after giving a player a yellow card in a Rugby World Cup. Very classy from Florian Rosu.”
